Tom Denlinger
Tom Denlinger is Assistant Professor of Art at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. MFA, School of the Art Institute of Chicago; B.A., California State University, Hayward, CA. Mr. Denlinger is a photographer and videographer who has had solo exhibitions in New York, and Chicago, as well as exhibitions in Seoul, Madrid, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Medellin, Colombia. The Frankfurt exhibition produced a 24-page catalog in October 2000. In February of 2002 he received a $10,000 grant from The ArtCouncil (San Francisco/Chicago) for his studio work, and in January 2001 he was commissioned by the City of Chicago to produce a 10’ x 80’ photographic installation in the city’s Watertower. In addition, Mr. Denlinger has received grants from the Kunstlerhaus, e.V. in Hamburg, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Illinois Arts Council. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Frankfurt Allgemeine, Szene-Hamburg, the New Art Examiner and Art Papers, and has been collected by the MCA in Chicago, Art Frankfurt, the MacArthur Foundation, the City of Chicago, LaSalle Bank, and the Refco collection of conceptual photography. In 2002 he collaborated with composer Gene Coleman to create the video for Coleman’s composition YAGO. Mr. Denlinger lives and works in Chicago.

This composition includes saxophone quartet, gagaku ensemble,
live electronics and video. The video was created in collaboration
by Chicago artist Tom Denlinger and Gene Coleman. The concert
will also feature music by Iannis Xenakis and traditional Gagaku
music.
